The Taoist Journal is a journaling and reflection app. This policy describes how we handle your information when you use the app and our backend services.
Account and sign-in. If you register with email and password, we store your email, name, and a hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive and store your Google account email, name, and profile picture (avatar) to identify you and personalize the app. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Journal entries and insights. Journal content you write and the AI-generated reflections we create from it are stored on our servers and associated with your account. We use this to show your history, power the reflection feature, and (with your consent) to generate period insights (e.g. weekly or monthly summaries).
Technical data. We may log IP address, device information, and request metadata for security and operation (e.g. rate limiting, abuse prevention).
We use your data to provide the app: to authenticate you, store and retrieve your journal entries and insights, run AI reflection and summaries, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We retain your account and journal data until you delete your account or request deletion. You can request deletion of your account and data by contacting us at motivationmasterts@gmail.com.
We use Google Sign-In for authentication (subject to Google’s privacy policy). We use an AI provider (e.g. Together AI) to generate reflections; journal content is sent to them only for that purpose. We may use infrastructure and analytics providers (e.g. hosting, error reporting) that process data on our behalf.
You can access, correct, or delete your data by using the app or by contacting us. If you are in a region that grants additional rights (e.g. GDPR), you may have the right to access, port, correct, or delete your data and to object to or restrict certain processing.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the current version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date.
